June

June is the start of the dry season in Ecuador, Peru and Brazil.   It is one of the best months for wildlife viewing in Selous and Ruaha in southern Tanzania, and the Okavango Delta is in its prime.

1. 

   Botswana

   • Excellent time to visit the Okavango Delta.
2. 

   Brazil

   • ‘Dry’ season (June to December) in the Amazon is an excellent time to see large fishing birds and caiman. 
   • The Pantanal is especially good for wildlife at this time, particularly for water birds.
3. 

   Ecuador

   • The rainforest around Kapawi is usually excellent for monkeys at this time. 
   • Humpback Whales can be seen off the coast near Puerto Lopez.
4. 

   Galapagos

   • Start of the garua season (cool / dry).
   • Giant Tortoises start nesting.
   • Frigatebirds start mating season - North Seymour especially good.
   • Sealions start to breed (until about December, and gestation is 9 months).
5. 

   Peru

   • Inti Raymi, the Inca festival, is on the 24th June.
6. 

   Tanzania

   • This is peak season for both Ruaha NP and Selous Game Reserve. Excellent wildlife viewing.
7. 

   Zambia

   • One of the best months for South Luangwa. 
   • Walking safaris available.
   • Excellent for seeing the Shoebill Storks in Bangweulu Swamps.
