Home to about a tenth of Zambia’s population, Lusaka is a bustling city centre and very much a business and travel hub. It is Zambia's capital and the largest city in the country. All the main shops and banks are here as you would imagine but most travellers simply connect at the airport to the national parks or Livingstone.
There are several hotels near Lusaka airport and a modern shopping mall at Manda Hills offers everything from banks and post office to internet connection and bars. If you do spend a few days here there are some museums and markets worth a visit and some good craft centres.
