Wasa Lodge

Wasa Lodge lies on the edge of Lake Wasa in the eastern half of Kasanka National Park, just 12 kms from the park entrance. Kasanka Park is one of the smallest parks in Zambia and is unique in being privately run. The lodge is ideally suited for visiting the hide at Fibwe (just 15 minutes drive or 2 hours walk away) and has a fine view with puku, hippo and sometimes even sitatunga visible from the lodge. Kasanka is also home to abundant birdlife. The habitat is a varied mixture of Miombo woodland, riverine forest, evergreen swamp forest and papyrus swamps. It also has lakes, lagoons, plains, dambos and marshes. The game concentrations are not high, but there are a number of specialist species here including Sitatunga, Sable, Lichtenstein's Hartebeest, Grysbok and Blue Monkey.

Accommodation is in rondavels or chalets. Each of the 3 rondavels has a double and a single bed, ensuite bathroom and private verandah. Lighting is provided (by solar power). There are also 6 simpler chalets with separate facilities. The Lodge also has a main building housing a bar, dining room, reception and verandah which overlooks the lake. All the buildings have thatched roofs and are built in a traditional style. The lodge is run by the Kasanka Trust and all money goes to local projects and conservation.

Activities offered at Wasa Lodge include game drives, escorted walks, birdwatching walks and night drives.
