Chiawa Camp

Chiawa Camp consists of 12 spacious shaded safari tents which are insect-proof, have twin beds with spring mattresses, solar lighting, and en-suite flushing loos and hot & cold showers. The thatched lounge/bar area, with observation deck, and dining room overlook the river. The reed enclosed fireplace is host to BBQs and cocktails by starlight. Chiawa Camp also has a carefully positioned viewing hide, overlooking the confluence of the Zambezi & Chowe Rivers, affording excellent, peaceful viewing of birds and the large mammals. Activities include gameviewing by vehicle or pontoon boat, nature walks with armed guide, night drives, canoeing (half & one day trips), bird safaris, bush breakfasts, visits to iron age sites, angling for the infamous tiger fish. A 'catch & release' policy is adhered to and fly fishermen are also catered for.

Highlights

  • Dramatic river frontage on the Zambezi
  • Very comfortable tented rooms - some with baths
  • Great food and wine
  • Excellent game viewing including night drives inside the park

Viewpoints
