Busanga Bush Camp lies in the heart of the Busanga Plains, a vast mosaic of expansive grassy seasonal floodplains that extends to the horizon. The camp, hidden in a well vegetated tree-island of sycamore fig trees, can accommodate eight guests in four well-appointed tents. The lounge and bar area is under canvas with an uninterrupted view out over the plains; breakfast is often served here to take in the view of herds of lechwe and puku feeding.
The 4 rooms are built of reed and canvas and offers views over the extensive Busanga Plains. They have en-suite bathrooms enclosed but roofless. Soaps, shampoo, body lotion, washing powder (for smalls), insect repellent and torches are supplied in each tent.
Dinners served in a boma under the stars, or in the dining area overlooking the Busanga floodplains. The camp facilities include so a well-stocked bar where guests can relax after their game viewing activities.
This area is well known for its range of game, including wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, cheetah, wild dog and birdlife. This camp also provides some of the best lion viewing in the whole of Africa. Guests can enjoy game drives, night drives and specialist birding drives.
The camp is on the Busanga Plains in the northern part of the 22 500km2 Kafue National Park whose floodpains are fed by the perennial Lunga, Lufupa and Kafue Rivers. As the dry season progesses (from May onwards) the floodplains dry up and large herds of puku, lechwe and wildebeest begin to move onto the plains to graze, followed by other plains game ranging from zebra and buffalo to roan and orbi. Predators include resident prides of lion, cheetah and sometimes wild dog. Kafue is home to over 490 bird species including Rosy-throated Longclaws, Crowned Cranes and other specials.
