Uganda

As a holiday destination, Uganda, known as the Pearl of Africa, is perhaps East Africa'’s best kept secret. It is quite unlike any other African country, with spectacular mountain scenery along with rainforests, rivers and lakes and areas of open plains, which provide homes for an extraordinary diversity of life. Uganda holidays are diverse and awe-inspiring.

One of the highlights has to be trekking to see primates in their natural habitat. Mountain gorillas can be seen at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, at Mgahinga or in the Parc National des Volcans in neighbouring Rwanda which is easily accessible from Uganda.

You can see chimpanzees, go birdwatching for the 27 Rift Valley endemics or the Shoebill stork, see elephants, lions and hippos and other great African wildlife in a range of wildlife areas such as the Kibale forest and the Queen Elizabeth (Ruwenzori) National Park.

The local communities also really make a trip here very special, sharing their cultural traditions and welcoming us to their country.

Client Comments

I was over the moon to see gorillas in three locations. I had also thought that the gorillas would be the highlight of the trip, but was so moved by the orphans' drama and music groups and especially the performance of the Bwindi group. The scenery was outstanding.

We loved the diversity, which made a mere 7 days feel like a 7 week holiday!

We found Uganda to be a beautiful country and the people friendly and helpful. Our guide was excellent, very well organised and a careful and skilled driver. He was friendly, sharing his own experiences and background and took care of us with sensitivity and helpful advice.

Our holiday to Uganda exceeded all expectations. We were all treated with such friendliness and warmth by all we met. Our guide, Ham, was the nicest, funniest person and incredibly knowledgeable. We felt really safe and looked after by him.
