Naitolia Camp is a charming small rustic lodge situated to the North of Tarangire National Park, located within an Acacia tortillis and baobab forest over-looking the Lemiyon Plains of the Tarangire ecosystem.
Accommodating just six guests, Naitolia Camp is set in an exclusive concession area of over 12,000 acres leased from the local Maasai communities, an ideal location for walking safaris, night game drives and fly camps. Naitolia Camp offers rustic comfort and seclusion. The ambiance is that of a true bush camp, free from the hustle and bustle of the regular tourist circuit. The camp is constructed from local materials with low stone and grass walls, covered by grass thatched roof in the style of the traditional African banda. The entire front area is comprised of canvas and shade cloth, to blend into its natural surroundings. Guests sleep in huge cedarwood four-poster beds. In addition to the three stone and canvas chalets, there is a treehouse ‘honeymoon’ room, built on stilts around the trunk of a huge tree. There are flush toilet and bucket shower facilities. There is a campfire area and a dining room with a well-stocked bar and small library.
Naitolia Camp is approximately 2 hours drive from Arusha town.
Activities: game viewing, night game drives, walking safaris, ethno-botanical guided walks, cultural interaction with, and tours of a Maasai village, cultural interaction and visits to Mangati pastoral peoples on the edge of Lake Manyara.
Fair Trade / Responsible Travel
There is a community-based tourism programme linked with Naitolia. The villages visited in the area are those involved in the project as well as those that are benefitting from village donations and client bed nights. Maasai communities are given a bed night fee per visitor per night. Funds are also given to back water projects and school buildings, etc.
