Lake Manze Camp

Lake Manze Camp is in one of the richest areas for game in the whole Selous Game Reserve. The camp consists of 12 tents, all well spaced apart offering a degree of privacy and all with good views of the lake. The tents are 'meru style' canvas with double zip locking and mesh windows. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and hot shower and is furnished with twin or double beds. The tents are spacious, with a comfortable veranda to watch the animals passing by. Frequent visitors to the lake include hippos, crocodiles, elephants, herons and many more. The spacious sitting areas offer relaxation for guests and overlook the lake, so are good for game viewing.

Game safaris are carried out in 4x4 vehicles which take a maximum of 4 guests and the drives are not limited to a specific schedule but tailor made to clients' wishes. Boat safaris are carried out in the calm waters of the lake. An early morning walk with an armed ranger is also available and a rewarding way to experience the beauty of the Selous.

Highlights

  • Secluded tented camp in the Selous Game Reserve.
  • Plentiful wildlife and bird life.
  • Variety of activities on foot, by vehicle and boat safaris.
  • True bush experience in old fashioned rustic style.

Viewpoints

Lake Manze was the best part of the trip, the guides were great and the hosts and staff all fantastic. The guide shared a lot of information with us on how life was for him in the bush, family life and their culture.
Michael & Claudia Leenders

We really enjoyed seeing wildlife close up - especially the elephants on our tent deck at Lake Manze!
G & K Chivers

Tents were very cosy and with a great view - nice to have elephants walking through the camp.
Mark Revell

Lake Manze camp was lovely, the tents were comfortable and plenty of elephants were very close by! The location is wonderful and the rustic nature of the camp perfect. The lack of tourists (in Selous) makes many of the wildlife experiences special. Spending well over an hour watching two lionesses with 5 young cubs playing and suckling with no other vehicles in sight is far more memorable than if there were a ring of vehicles surrounding them.
Mark & Jayne Balchin
