Peru

Peru is perhaps the most evocative of South American countries and an excellent holiday destination. Just hearing the name Peru conjures up images of ancient Inca temples, condors flying above high Andean mountains, diverse rainforests in the Amazon basin, Lake Titicaca on the altiplano, panpipes and of course...llamas.

The most awe-inspiring site is the Lost City of Machu Picchu, overlooking the sacred Urubamba Valley. The Inca Trail is one of the most famous high altitude treks in the world. But you don't have to trek to get to Machu Picchu, you can take the train from Cusco. Or check out our horse supported treks on remote Inca pathways. The options in the rainforest include the spectacular macaw lick at the Tambopata Reserve or take a trip into the Manu Biosphere Reserve - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reputedly with the greatest biodiversity of anywhere on the planet.

The Colca Canyon offers one of the best opportunities to see the huge Andean Condor, and the scenery is breathtaking. Lake Titicaca is home to some very unique communities - including the extraordinary floating islands of Uros, constructed entirely from reeds. There are pre-Inca sites in the north, and the bizarre Nazca lines mapped onto the desert floor near the coast. But the really amazing thing about Peru is that whatever the expectations, they are surpassed by the reality for most people who manage to get to this extraordinary country. See for yourself when you travel with us for your Peru holiday.

Client Comments

Throughout the 4 week trip we were very impressed with the quality of the guides, the collection and transport to and from airports and hotels, the hotels themselves and above all the fact that we had such a personal service for just the six of us. It all contributed towards making it a true holiday of a lifetime. Many thanks.
