The small Berber town of Imlil is just an hour and a halfs drive from Marrakech and is the gateway to this magnificent trekking region and your Atlas Mountain trek. The big challenge here is Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak, and with more time you can explore more of this remote region with your expert local guide.

Itinerary
- Day 1:
Arrive in Marrakech. Transfer to your hotel.
- Day 2:
Transfer to Imlil, then short walk to Aremd (1,920m). Overnight Berber guesthouse. (B,D)
- Day 3:
Climb to Tizi n'Tamerete (2,280m) and the village of Ouanskra. Return to Aremd. Guesthouse. (FB)
- Day 4:
Trek to Neltner Refuge (3,100m). Camp. (FB)
- Day 5:
Trek to Toubkal summit (4,167m) and return to the refuge. Camp. (FB)
- Day 6:
Trek to Lac D'Ifini (2,310m). Camp. (FB)
- Day 7:
Trek to Tissalday (2,100m). Camp. (FB)
- Day 8:
Trek to Aremd (1,920m). Guesthouse. (FB)
- Day 9:
Trek to Imlil and return to Marrakech. Hotel. (B)
- Day 10:
Free day to explore Marrakech. Hotel. (B)
- Day 11:
Transfer to airport for flight home. (B)

Is it for you?
This is a reasonably challenging trip, particularly due to the altitude. You need only carry a small backpack with your requirements for the day. You need to be comfortable with camping, and staying in basic guest houses with few facilities.
Best times to go
Mount Toubkal is snowcapped during the winter months when ice and snow climbing equipment and experience are required and wdo not organise treks at this time of year. The trek can be taken from April to October.

Getting there
There are several no-frills airlines flying direct from London to Marrakech, including Easy Jet, Ryan Air and GB Airways (a subsidy of BA), with flight prices starting from as little as £100 per person.
