Ku Chawe Inn

The Ku Chawe Inn has stunning views over the valley from the top of Zomba Plateau. There are 40 rooms in a mix of standard, deluxe and superior.  Some are connected which are ideal for families.  Enjoy great food either in the classical dining room or on the sunny terrace.  The gardens are beautifully landscaped and full of interesting flowers and trees.

The hotel is 70 minutes drive from Blantyre and about 20 minutes from Zomba town which is down in the valley below. There is a kiddies swimming pool and playground and open fires in some of the rooms for the cold winter nights.  The high altitude here means that year round the plateau feels much fresher than some of the dry areas on the valley floor and nearer the lake.

From Ku Chawe there are lots of interesting view points and trails within walking distance of the hotel.  If the road is in good shape (it varies with the weather!) there is a wonderful circular drive around the top of the mountain which takes in forest patches, montane grassland, and some spectacular viewpoints, the most famous of which is Chingwe’s Hole where the western edge of the plateau falls away dramatically.

Mountain biking and horse riding can be arranged from here at extra cost.
