Kilaguni Serena Lodge

Kilaguni was the first lodge to open inside a Kenyan National Park and is made with the volcanic rock of the area, blending into the environment and has great views on clear days back across the plains to Kilimanjaro.  There is an open dining area and game viewing deck with a waterhole by the lodge frequented by many animals.

There are 51 standard rooms and 5 suites all with views across the plains and possibly to Kilimanjaro if the weather is clear!

There is a rock paved swimming pool in the lush gardens and games available to occupy the children.  Activities for those interested in the geology of this volcanic area include climbing the Chaimu Crater, scrambling over the Shetani Lava Flow or scaling the gentle reaches of the Five Sisters Range.

Extra activities than can be booked and arranged here include night drives, bush dinners, sundowners, nature trails, picnics, tribal dances, lectures by wildlife experts, visits to Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary.

The original lodge was built in 1962 and Serena took it over and renovated it in 1999, upgrading it with modern facilities and good environmental policies. They take in the interests of the local community with regard to things like cultural preservation, community development and sustainable tourism.
