On the north shore of the Dead Sea, about an hour's drive from Amman and the international airport, the Movenpick Dead Sea Spa provides luxurious accommodation at the lowest point on earth. Completed in 1999, the Movenpick Dead Sea has a total of 358 rooms, some in the main building with more in low-rise "villages". All the rooms are warmly decorated and feature all the mod-cons you would expect from a 5 star hotel, including air-conditioning.
As well as the famous ZARA Spa, there are several swimming pools, some of which feature different mineral concentrations, including a heated pool for winter. A wide private beach runs along the Dead Sea shore, and there are jacuzzis, tennis courts and a fitness centre. There are also a total of four restaurants and several cafes and bars.
