Septimo Paraiso is located in the Mindo Valley in the 420 hectare Cloud Forest Reserve and has been welcoming guests since 2001. There are 22 rooms spread over 3 separate buildings. All have private bathrooms and are indvidually furnished and decorated using natural materials to enhance the forest setting. Some rooms have 4-poster beds and others have balconies or picture windows offering garden views.
There is a choice of restaurants. El Siete Restaurant is set in the upper section of the reserve and has an a la carte menu. Its large windows afford views of the forest all around. It also serves wonderful coffee! La Chorrera Bar-Restaurant is an elegant country-style establishment where guests can indulge in both local cuisine and international dishes. Both restaurants offer a selection of the finest Argentinean and Chilean wines. El Puma Bar is a popular meeting place, serving cocktails and a range of alcoholic and soft drinks. There is a games area with a pool table, darts and table football. The bar also has a choice of music and TV channels.
The main activity here is exploring the cloud forest. Ranging from 950 to 1650 metres above sea level, there is a great diversity of flora and fauna. The reserve is known for its bird life and there are over 320 species of birds to be seen. There are also great numbers of amphibians and reptiles, plus several species of mammals including the spectacled bear, black howler monkey and puma. The plant life is profuse and varied. Guests can explore by walking the trails, trekking and taking canopy walks. More extreme adventures are also available including rafting, tubing, kayaking and mountain biking. Guests can also visit the butterfly farm, orchid house and aquarium. In summer there are camps for children from the age of 6 up to 17, with organised activities.
Back at the hosteria, guests can relax in the welcoming heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and solarium, surrounded by lush gardens. There is also a small gym for those so inclined. The gift shop sells a variety of souveniers and handicrafts. The different areas of the hosteria are linked by roofed board walks.
