Pousada do Pilar

Pousada do Pilar is a good mid-range option in Salvador's historic Pelourinho district. There are 12 large ensuite rooms, 7 with a balcony overlooking the ocean and 5 with a small balcony (standing room only!) overlooking the street. Breakfast is served on a rooftop patio overlooking the waterfront. It is a 10 minute downhill walk to Pelourinho's main square.
