About Pousada des Arts

  • Close Panel

Pousada des Arts has been painstakingly restored over a period of 4 years by a dedicated team of architects, artists and craftsman and now offers spacious accommodation in the heart of Salvador. This former colonial mansion is a welcoming sight with its ochre and red paintwork, high ceilings and gleaming wooden floors. The large windows afford views of the Bay of All Saints and the historic city.

There are 8 suites, comfortably furnished with luxurious Baldaquin (canopy) beds, minibar and fan. Modern comforts and amenities have not been forgotten and include television, DVD player, 'phone, hair dryer, safe, free internet access and air conditioning. The Superior Suites have balconies with views out over the city, while the Luxury Suites have large verandas with hammocks, overlooking the bay. All suites have a single bed as well as the double bed and two of the Luxury Suites have a mezzanine floor with room for up to three more guests. Rooms are decorated in warm colours, giving a homely feel. The pousada provides a generous breakfast, served on the sunny downstairs terrace with loveky sea views, and there are many restaurants nearby for lunch and evening meals.

The lobby doubles as an arts venue when the pousada holds its monthly exhibitions of local paintings or sculpture, plus musical performances, all celebrating the vibrant art and culture of Bahia. Guests are welcome to attend these events and meet the artists in person.

The pousada is perfectly positioned for exploring the Upper City with historic buildings and monuments. Its proximity to the coast means that beach visits and water sports are popular pastimes. Catamaran sailing, sunset cruises, speed boat rides, fishing, diving and surfing can all be enjoyed locally.

Pricing guidelines for Brazil

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £900 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Brazil combines with Peru, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands due to scheduled flights, so, for example, it makes a good beach stop after Peru or Ecuador.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
