Asalem is set in the beautiful Bay of Agraao on Ilha Grande, a 2-hour drive from Rio de Janeiro. The island is an unspoiled paradise with jungle, mountains, waterfalls and stunning beaches. Further afield is Dois Rios village with its lovely beach and the remains of 'The Devil's Cauldron', one of Brazil's most notorious prisons, closed in 1994 and now a fascinating place to visit.
